External study confirms that Signia IX Outperforms Closest Competitor in Noisy Group Conversations
2 Apr 2025

- Third-party research from hearing experts at Hörzentrum Oldenburg confirms that Signia’s Integrated Xperience (IX) platform significantly outperforms the closest competitor device featuring an AI co-processor launched in 2024.
- In this rigorous human performance study, 86% of participants experienced clearer speech understanding using Signia IX hearing aids compared to this leading competitor.
Lynge, Denmark – April 2, 2025 – Today, hearing aid innovator Signia announced a new external study clearly demonstrating that Signia IX’s signal-to-noise ratio advantages compared to key competitors consistently translate into superior speech understanding for wearers. The external study confirms previous Signia IX studies.[1]
“Hearing aid wearers consistently report that noisy group conversations remain their biggest challenge,” said Jens Moeller, Head of Brand at Signia. “This study confirms that Signia IX, with split processing and RealTime Conversation Enhancement uniquely addresses this issue, enabling users to connect effortlessly even in demanding environments.”
Unlike traditional single-stream hearing aids, Signia IX processes speech and noise signals independently, creating immersive sound with enhanced contrast. This technology is central to the new Signia BCT IX hearing aids launched in February 2025, which also include universal Bluetooth® Classic connectivity.
The Hörzentrum Oldenburg study utilized the standardized Oldenburger Satztest (OLSA), which was conducted in a circle of loudspeakers replicating a noisy cafeteria environment. Participants had to listen to and repeat sentences from alternating speakers from both the front and side, with additional distracting speakers placed behind them, authentically simulating complex, real-world conversational scenarios.
“At Signia, we are constantly innovating to ensure that hearing aid wearers have the confidence to engage, interact and contribute – especially in noisy group conversations. An important part of innovation is testing speech understanding in noisy environments, which requires replicating real-world listening conditions. That’s why we’re very pleased to be working with external researchers from the Hörzentrum Oldenburg, for precise, data-backed insights into the improvements achieved by the Signia IX platform,” Jens Moeller said.
